Owned...by a dog and a boy.

When  son gets a pup at age ten, the pup will be his for a few years... then  son goes away- into his own life. The pup stays behind- becomes Mom's .
She will doubly spoil the pup as she misses her son so much- transfer of affection, a loving mushy motherly purpose extended for  as long as the pup will live.

The pup can do no wrong...the Mom tolerates all sorts of bad behaviour.

feeds him treats often,  plays with  him all day long...

he goes everywhere with her.

she carries him through storms when his little paws get cold- She carries him when the walk is too long-
She carries him out to the yard three times a night and into the early morning because he has tummy troubles and will not sleep.

She asks for guidance and strength - to keep from strangling him after having had NO SLEEP for two nights straight. PLEASE! Really???

And then , in the afternoon her son sends a photo of himself on the street in PORTLAND, and she forgets about her burning eyes , lackluster sluggishness, with the pup happily snoring  at her feet, having been tended to with meds and special home made stew, good for  tummy funk, and she is so grateful to have this funny little pup to take the edge off of missing her funny son so very much!

Ha! Glinda the good witch! Love it.

My mom always complained that I left my dog behind when I went to college. But what was I supposed to do, take her with me to live in the dorm? Mom took care of her, and I suspect she enjoyed it even though she complained.

Glenda, what happened honey?

When our son left home as a grown boy, we told him he couldn't take his dog with him. She was used to having people around 24/7 and having a fenced yard. it would be cruel to take her and make her live in an apartment alone all day while he was at work.

I can very much relate to the pup-love. I carry Snous when she asks(although I know she is just being lazy and contrary, and not at all tired), I risk heart attacks by running at full speed on the beach (because suddenly Madam has decided to practise for Doggy Olympics - the 50 metre sprint), I brave the wind and big mean old dogs to take her for a walk, I take her everywhere, even to car boot sales, where she severely limits my ability to get in there first and grab the bargains because she wants to sniff somewhere ELSE, I give up the best bits of chicken for her .. But oh, she brings light into my life - like Dexter does for you.

Ha Ha, that totally cracks me up! Wonder if Dexter would recognize Erik in that outfit.
