THIS- is the toilet...
It has been three and a half years since our bathroom has been a hole in the house, damaged from flood...Mr. Man does not want to move too quickly when it comes to that sort of thing- finally in mid December he found a handy man he could work with and so the work began-Over a month later- This is as far as it has gotten- progress? I have learned patience in this lifetime and perhaps that has been my big lesson this time around.
The days are dark- the windows don't help much- that is bird doo-doo that baby Jay and his friends like to leave everywhere- They are lucky like that- Just use any window, deck, car, fence, for a toilet- rain for a shower. They are on to something, I think.
Moss and lichen growing on everything that stands still. Many varieties on the plum tree, this is only a few inches of branch. The entire tree is dressed fancy- all colours , ruffles and lace.
It is magnificent. If you look closely there is even a bit of red fungus growing in a cozy spot, so fancy!
Taking mass quantities of vitamin D, turning all the lights on-it helps...but I really need to use the toilet- after all it has been over 3.5 years...Damn, I am a patient woman! a bleeding saint!

According to blogger you posted this 38 seconds ago so I hope to be your quickest ever commenter in under a minute. Quicker than the toilet job anyway. We have not had a shower for months as there is a hole where the tiles used to be and we have not done anything about it. We are fairly useless house maintainers. I hope your toilet gets done soon! Love the lichen and moss.
Hahaha - you are so funny! 3.5 years is a long time to wait to go to the loo. Come and use ours - it is only 12 inches away!
A very patient woman, LS. You have sainthood nailed. But a visual of you next to Baby Jay learning how to leave doo-doo off the deck rail somehow brings a grin. The other choice of flying to Anairam's house to use her loo might be a fine-fine idea. Sending good vibes for finding a way to light a fire under you contractor-plumber.
I smuggled some of that Puget Sound moss and lichen lace across the Deadly Desert. It lives in a glass cage and is spritzed daily but I think it really misses the rain and gray skies.
I love all the moss and lichens on the tree -- beautiful! As for home improvements, ugh. I am glad I'm a renter. :)
We are not very good house maintainers either. We tore out the bathtub in one bathroom to replace it with a shower unit. 5 years later we had enough money to pay someone to do it. Still the old house has many problems. Clogged plumbing high on the list. Love the lichens though!
Please tell me you have more than one bathroom...
hee hee, at the shack certain someone has been meaning to fix the stove in the sauna for the last 2 yrs...the room itself has turned into much needed storage. will he ever get to actually doing the fixing? do not care, i like the storage space better!
we do have a shower, and a semi-working toilet (needs little adjustments weekly), water pipes that sometimes freeze in winter, then obviously, no shower...that's my cue to go to my apt in the city!
patience is, indeed, a virtue!
Hellllloooo - just pushing my nose out and about on my old flight paths - having trouble believing it's been almost a year since I was last in bloggyworld - but what's a year - I'm seriously impressed with the strength of your bladder muscles*!*
Oh that lichen makes me tingle with delight - such gorgeous colour and texture!
If patience is indeed virtue, you have virtue in abundance!!! I bet you'd rather have a toilet that works but if you have to settle for virtues... I think you have tolerance nailed too!
