Dexter has been tubbed and scrubbed- see how pleased he is about it, hiding under my computer.
Cousin of cookie fame gives me a crumby blurry photo of himself and says " Draw my portrait"...
"From THIS?" I ask..."sure, says he..."good luck with that," I mumble in my beard...
So I scribble this, a fairly good likeness.
he might expect something with more effort- I am up for a moderate challenge, get out my new beautiful new 18"X 24" drawing pad and draw a large cousin on it.
Considering the shite photo and the hour and a half it took to get his face on this big piece of paper, it's OK- He looks like "The Dude".
His neck is wrong , like a goiter, and he has a hole in his eye... I will fix it , but for now ... the Dude abides.
Then it's a quick walk to town because for 20 minutes the rain ceased it's enthusiasm- Just misty drops and Dexter doesn't mind getting rain wet, tubbed wet is another howling whimpering shivering story.
Dexter thinks he looks grand with a white ray coming out of his head- " SEE, that's what happens when you are clean", I tell him. And then he gives me this LOOK...

You're a better woman than me. I would never have made the attempt. But now I find I have to convert four faces into etched glass. Challenging.
a brave attempt at the cousin! i'd much rather look at sweet Dexter's cute expression!
I love the sketch -- both sketches, but particularly the first one!
Why do dogs hate baths so much, but people like them?
Dexter is an exclamation mark!
WAy cool.
You really do capture a likeness in your drawing.
Buster says hi and he is glad your rain has let up fr a bit!
I'm with Steve - perhaps the first one is more "realistic" - just sayin'.
I'm with Steve and sTELLA. First sketch fun, second one-extra great. Cheers for both of them. I love EWix's observation that Dex is an EXCLAMATION! He looks so fine.
